Origin History

Skif-Thai-Don is a breed of the smallest cats in the world. It appeared in the 1980s in Russia thanks to Russian breeder Elena Krasnichenko. One day she adopted two stray kittens. One was very similar to a Siamese, and the other was a Silpointe kitten with an unusual short-cut tail. The crossing of the two adopted cats resulted in a small kitten’s birth with a short tail, which became the progenitor of the Toybob.

In the early 1990s, Elena Krasnichenko first took a Skif-Thai-Don cat to a show in Rostov-on-Don. Since the cat was very small in size, she was mistaken for a kitten. But actually, it was an adult cat. After visiting the first show, the breed was registered in several Russian cat associations. Sometime later, the Toybob was introduced to the world community for the first time.

Appearance

Skif-Thai-Dons are quite small cats, they are noticeably shorter than average-sized cats, and because of this, they are sometimes called dwarf or toy cats. They have a strong, thick, and muscular rectangular body. The head of this cat breed is round with a rounded flat forehead. The Toybob ears are medium-sized and rounded at the tips. They are high pitched and slightly inclined forward. These babies have wide open and round bright blue eyes.

The coat of a Toybob is short, thick, and resilient due to the developed undercoat. The coat color is the same as that of Siamese cats – colorpoint. Predominantly they are cats with light hair all over the body, with dark paws, tail, ears, and a “masquerade mask” covering the eyes and muzzle.

Bathing a cat of this breed should only be done if necessary. A special cat shampoo can be used for this purpose. Also, the Skif-Thai-Don needs regular brushing and claw trimming.

Skif-Thai-Don needs to be kept almost constantly in sight to avoid accidents. The kitten’s curiosity and activity can lead to the fact that he will fall out of an open window, fall from the closet, or accidentally set fire to his tail on a burning stove. Therefore you should only leave it alone if you are sure that nothing of the kind will happen to it.

Toybob is a very capable cat. She is very good at learning simple commands. For example, it can easily be taught to sit and lie down as directed by its owner. Also, it will not be difficult to teach basic rules of behavior, which it will almost always follow. Skif-Thai-Don cats quickly become accustomed to the litter box and scratching post.

A Toybob is a cat that can’t do without its owner’s attention. You need to take care of the possibility of spending enough time with her. The cat likes to play with toys, so you need to ensure that they are available in the house. This pet can be taken out for walks, but only with a leash and collar.

Also, good genetic health is ensured by the fact that aboriginal Russian cats were used for breeding this breed. The breed has no known health problems or genetic diseases and lives for many years. Nutrition

The diet of Skif-Thai-Dons must be balanced. Even though they are very small, they expend a lot of energy. An adult Toybob is best fed several times a day. The cat’s food can either be natural or consist of commercial dry food or canned food. When choosing food, make sure that it is of good quality and meets all the nutritional needs of the Skif-Thai-Don.

If fed with natural foods, the Toybob’s diet should consist mainly of lean meat. Sometimes you can diversify the pet’s diet with porridge, fermented dairy products, eggs, and vegetables. It is also important to monitor the cat’s weight; if it begins to gain weight, it can seriously affect its overall health and well-being. Like all other breeds, the Skif-Thai-Don needs constant access to fresh, clean water.
