The history of the Foreign Whites began in the 1960s. British breeder Patricia Turner accidentally got hold of a blown-up picture of a Siamese cat. The woman liked the white shade of hair in the picture so much that she decided to start breeding a new breed. The only thing that stopped her was that snow-white representatives with blue eyes are often born deaf. But Turner took on the challenge nonetheless.
In 1962, a British short-haired white cat and a Siamese in a power point shade were used for breeding. Members of the snow-white offspring with blue eyes became the first representatives of the Foreign White. All international felinological organizations do not officially recognize today’s cats.
The exterior of the Foreign White attracts attention at first sight. And not only because of the snow-white color. Representatives of the breed are flexible, graceful, and with a graceful gait. In short, real aristocrats. They are endowed with a muscular body. The head is long, slightly tapered. Large triangular ears set high. Almond-shaped eyes take on a blue hue. Paws – slender and long. The narrowed tail is proportional to the body. Wool – dense, short, snow-white shade. To the touch, the cover is soft and silky. The standard forbids any inclusions and other colors of the breed.
Foreign Whites have the blood of Siamese cats. From them, the animals have inherited a high intelligence and obedience. Also pronounced talkativeness. Representatives of the breed even have their language. They will not make noises for anything: either they need something or demand attention. Cats quickly become attached to the family. They are friendly with children and can act as babysitters. However, kids should be explained from an early age that games with the breed representatives should not be too active.
To other animals, the Foreign White is a bit arrogant. Because of their innate British character, they know their worth and will not give offense. If there is another cat or pet in the house, the Foreign White will be the leader. Otherwise, a war can break out.
The animals’ temperament is mild and patient. They rarely show aggression and discontent. If problems arise, the foragers try to solve them amicably.
Cats love cleanliness. They know that they look great outwardly, so they try to take care of themselves. Due to their short hair, it is enough to brush the breed once a week. In fall and spring, you can increase the number of procedures to two or three per week. Frequent bathing once every two three months is not recommended. Nails should be filed weekly, and ears and teeth should be checked. Wipe the eyes every day with a damp cloth.
Cats are naturally very trainable. With proper attention, they can easily perform commands and simple tricks. If you train them to the litter box from an early age, there will be no adulthood problems. Do not apply aggression and anger to pets. Cats love kindness and will distance themselves if yelled at. Also, fowl whites are vindictive animals. Therefore, a contemptuous attitude will be remembered for a long time and may not accept you as an owner. Give your pet a piece of treat and praise for achievements. This way, he will be more motivated to learn new commands.
Successful breeding has allowed white cats with blue eyes to retain their hearing. They are endowed with good health. With proper care and a balanced diet, Foreign Whites live up to 15-20 years. Due to inbreeding, inbreeding sometimes occurs:
To feed the Foreign White, dry food, or natural food with vitamin and mineral complexes is suitable. Although the breed has a good appetite, it is not prone to obesity due to its active lifestyle. Watch for an optimal ratio of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Protein products should prevail in the diet. Be sure to include meat, dairy, vegetables, and cereals. Also, ensure free access to water throughout the day. Especially if the pet eats dry food.
