Origin History

This breed has so many names that there is enough for an entire witness protection program. The Chantilly was originally called the foreign long-haired, then it was called the Tiffany, and now the official name of the breed is the Chantilly-Tiffany. Confusion exists not only in the name but also in the sources of the breed’s origin. It was rumored to be a mixture of the long-haired Abyssinian and the Havana Brown. It was believed that the first Chantilly-Tiffanys became extinct until a married couple – a cat and a cat – were found when a house was sold in New York in 1967. They are considered to be the progenitors of all modern Chantilly-Tiffany’s. This breed has been known for over 50 years but is extremely rare. Some experts believe that it can be considered extinct; there are heated debates on the subject.

Appearance

The Chantilly-Tiffany is a beautiful breed; it can be called a supermodel in the feline world. The high cheekbones, large lovely oval eyes, and flowing curls of this cat are the envy of many. The breed has a silky, medium-length coat. It comes in many colors, but the most common is a luxurious dark brown. The coloring of the coat can be a marvelous chocolate color, and for this, they are sometimes called the “delight of the chocolatier.” Chantilly-Tiffany has smoky eyes, which become darker and more expressive with age. But it’s not just a pretty face that makes these cats outstanding. They have a unique ability: they can sing like birds.

Character

Chantilly-Tiffany cats are known for the fact that they choose their person as an owner. This is a one-lover cat; only one owner will be devoted to them for the rest of their lives, a close relationship between them can be felt even at a distance. Chantilly-Tiffany is carefree cats who love attention. If no one shows interest and desire to play with them, they get bored. They take great pleasure in communicating with family members. They are considered a talkative breed; their meows sound like a nightingale’s trill, very gentle and pleasant to the ear. Chantilly-Tiffany can hardly be called very playful; they calmly, with swan-like grace and regal majesty, will make a round of the apartment, as if observing.

The Chantilly-Tiffany is a breed of cat with a very weak, uneven system and should never be abused. Inappropriate behavior with Chantilly-Tiffany cats can lead to their nervous breakdown or obsessive-compulsive neurosis.

Care

The Chantilly-Tiffany is prone to aggressive licking of the coat, up to and including baldness. It is due to their emotional instability and unstable psyche. Although such cats have long hair, it is without an undercoat, so combing it will not be a great difficulty to the owner. The process should not take longer than 20 minutes. You should also take care of its teeth and brush them a couple of times a week with a special toothpaste. You can’t use regular toothpaste that you brush your pet’s teeth with. It contains trace elements that are damaging to Chantilly-Tiffany’s delicate teeth.

Education

The Chantilly-Tiffany is an easy-to-learn cat breed. They learn the house rules first; they know where the litter box and the scratching post are. Once you tell your cat what you want him to do, he will immediately understand everything. Very smart, can act as a watchdog, and reacts with a meow even to the weather. Cats of this breed can tell time without a clock and wake up the owner better than any alarm clock. If the owner wishes, you can teach Tiffani a few simple tricks to impress your friends during walks.

Common Diseases

The Chantilly-Tiffany is a healthy breed, but it has a bad habit of pulling its hair out. It is seen in very restless, nervous cats. Chantilly-Tiffany’s weakness is their mental equilibrium; they are quite precarious and easily upset or intimidated. Tiffany’s are prone to obsessive-compulsive neurosis, which is a protective reaction of Tiffany’s nervous system to stress. The main symptom is when the cat is licked too long and thoroughly, even to the point of forming sputters. In constant stressful situations, this becomes a habit, and such a reaction occurs even to the slightest stimuli.

Nutrition

Balanced and thoughtful – this is how the nutrition of the Chantilly-Tiffany cat breed should be. Because of the monotonous diet, the cat develops diseases related to the digestive system. To avoid this, combine feeding Chantilly-Tiffany dry food with natural products. Feed your cat meat as a must-have food, porridge, fish without bones, eggs, and dairy products. Keep in mind; you should not go overboard with dairy products; it is fraught with stomach upsets. Chantilly-Tiffany cats are prone to obesity, so you can not overfeed them.
